Active Substance

Acetylcysteine also known as N-acetyl-L-cysteine or NAC is a mucolytic agent acting by reducing disulfide bonds in mucoproteins.
Acetylcysteine is applied in a variety of respiratory diseases. As a glutathione prodrug it is indicated for the prevention of liver damage after paracetamol overdose. Acetylcysteine has also found use as hepatoprotectant to manage intoxications with analgetics in domestic animals especially in cats.
