Active Substance
Desmopressin (DDAVP) is a synthetic analog of vasopressin with low vasopressor activity. Apart from its increasing effect on water resorption by the kidneys, desmopressin raises plasma levels of von Willebrand factor and factor VIII.
In veterinary medicine, desmopressin is applied in the treatment of canine and feline diabetes insipidus.
