How does the program work?

This is a full-time program based at our manufacturing site in Torrance, California. It consists of four required rotations through different production departments: PMO upstream, PMO downstream, Peptide upstream, and Peptide downstream.

How long is the program?

The length of the apprenticeship program will vary depending on individual progress. Successful apprentices will complete the program in one year or less. Upon graduation from the program, apprentices will receive a certificate of completion. Apprentices who continue with Bachem after the program will earn Bachem’s starting wage for a Production Technician. The starting wage in our apprenticeship program is $16 an hour with incremental increases after completing each rotation.

Why should you apply?

By joining our apprenticeship program, you will have the opportunity to learn a career skill while earning a steady income. We will provide you with all the training you need to become a fully certified Production Technician. All apprentices are considered Bachem employees and will be eligible for our full benefits package. Our program is registered with the United States Department of Labor and the State of California. Upon completion you will receive a certificate recognizing your having fulfilled the requirements to be a fully trained Production Technician.

Great training opportunities

A key benefit of this apprenticeship is the amount of hands-on experience and training you will receive. Both onsite classes and external courses are available. Apprentices are required to attend 144 hours of additional related technical instruction, paid for by Bachem.

Any classes scheduled during regularly scheduled work hours are considered as “on the clock” and classes taken at our partner, West LA College, may be eligible for college credit towards a degree.

Receive expert mentorship

Apprentices will be assigned a supervisor who is dedicated to ensuring they are successful in their apprenticeship at Bachem. Each apprentice is also assigned their own personal “buddy” who is available to provide them guidance and support.

Bachem provides regular assessments to ensure apprentices progress successfully through the program. We believe in providing continuous feedback to help team members accomplish their goals.
