about the Event
Hosted by the American Chemical Society’s Green Chemistry Institute (ACS GCI), the GC&E Conference is the longest-running global conference dedicated to green chemistry and engineering. The conference sessions span the breadth and depth of green and sustainable chemistry and engineering, with a special focus on the 2022 theme Thinking in Systems: Designing for Sustainable Use.
Synthetic pTH(1-84): comparing sustainability between SPPS, NCL and CEPS
by Leendert van den Bos (CEO and Co-Founder EnzyTag) and Stefan Eissler (VP Peptide Manufacturing at Bachem)
Parathyroid hormone (pTH), also called parathormone or parathyrin, is a peptide hormone secreted by the parathyroid glands that regulates the serum calcium concentration through its effects on bone, kidney, and intestine (ref Wikipedia). This contribution will compare various synthetic routes towards pTH on several sustainability parameters incl. overall yields, solvent consumption, scalability and atom efficiency. The synthetic routes that will be discussed are straight-trough SPPS, fragment condensation using Native Chemical Ligation and fragment condensation using Chemo-Enzymatic Peptide Synthesis (ref Peptiligase). The comparison will be based on gram scale synthesis data.
SESSION:
New Technologies for Sustainable Peptide Syntheses
DAY ONE:
Monday, June 6, 3:55-4:35 pm
