On Wednesday 18 March, 14:45, Sabine Fenner, Director Oligo R&D, will give a presentation on: Efficient Large-scale siRNA Manufacturing: Enzymatic Ligation of Short RNA Fragments. This talk will showcase enzymatic ligation as an alternative to SPOS for siRNA production. A following case study will focus on a therapeutically relevant siRNA sequence and benchmark different manufacturing technologies, discussing a holistic view of the manufacturing process and reviewing control strategies for residual enzyme.

About the Speaker and Bachem representatives

Dr. Sabine Fenner

Director Oligo R&D

Sabine completed a PhD in organic chemistry at the University of Göttingen Germany in 2012, followed by a postdoctoral stay at the University of Cambridge UK focusing on the total synthesis of a peptide-derived antibiotic. From 2014-2025 she worked as a Process Chemist and Scientific leader at GSK UK, developing small molecule and oligonucleotide drug candidates. In July 2025 Sabine joined Bachem as a director Oligo R&D where she is now concentrating on the process development of therapeutic oligonucleotides throughout clinical phases as well as the adoption of innovative technologies for a streamlined commercial API supply.
