Tag-assisted One-Pot Liquid-phase Oligonucleotide Synthesis

Learn more on Bachem’s new one-pot process of synthesizing oligonucleotides in liquid-phase utilizing new pseudo-solid-phase protecting groups (tags). This process holds promise to be more efficient and environmentally friendly than current commercial processes. Distribution between a halogen-free organic and an aqueous phase allows to remove byproducts and excess reagents. No isolation of the growing oligonucleotide is required. Due to its non-heterogeneous nature, the process is seamlessly scalable and therefore ideally suited for large scale manufacturing of oligonucleotides.

About the speakers

Anatol Luther

Director R&D

Anatol Luther, Director R&D, joined Bachem in 2020 assuming responsibility for a wide range of innovation projects, process optimization, and manufacturing activities within preclinical and clinical CMC development. Previously, he spent 19 years at a Biotech company in various drug discovery roles focused on peptide chemistry. There he was increasingly involved in CMC development activities of the company’s clinical candidates. Anatol obtained his PhD in organic chemistry from the University of Bochum and undertook his postdoctoral studies at The Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, USA, both in the field of oligonucleotide chemistry.

Claudia Murar

Business Development Manager Oligonucleotides

Claudia Murar, Business Development Manager Oligonucleotides, joined Bachem in 2018 as a Sales Manager Generics, and then moved to the Business Development Department. Claudia studied Chemical Engineering at the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées (INSA), Rouen and obtained her PhD in peptide and protein chemistry at ETH Zürich.
