Peptides have emerged as popular active ingredients in cosmetics in order to help maintain a healthy and youthful appearance. Some peptides affect various cellular and molecular processes within the skin through modulation of collagen, elastin and melanin. In particular, the ability of some synthetic peptides to increase or maintain production of dermal extracellular matrix proteins such as collagen is of interest for anti-aging applications (1). Furthermore, researchers have shown that several peptides have the ability to promote wound healing, cell migration, and angiogenesis. Many peptides are active ingredients in marketed cosmetic products but often there is little in vivo efficacy data known. In addition, cosmetic peptides are often tested as part of a mixture or as a cosmetic formulation limiting knowledge pertaining to the effect of an individual peptide (2). Several examples of cosmetic peptides that have undergone clinical studies to confirm efficacy on human skin are shown in Table 1.

My official job title is Market Analyst.
How long have you been with Bachem? Where did you work before Bachem?
I am with Bachem since September 2019. Before joining Bachem, I worked in the Marketing & Sales department as a Business Analyst for a large chemical company in Switzerland.
Briefly, what do you do at Bachem?
I focus on Business Intelligence and Competitive Intelligence. I evaluate data, as well as competitor and industry data, to discover ways to improve Bachem’s market position.
What is your academic background/degrees or training?
I hold both a Bachelor and a Master degree in business management.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I enjoy spending time with family and friends. It is a great way to socialize and to stay motivated by encouraging each other.
How is the Marketing & Sales team partnering with their customers?
Steady communication with customers helps to gain better understanding of their requirements, and overall make customers feel valued and important.
What makes a perfect day for you?
A perfect day is waking up with determination, feeling energized.

What do you like most about your job?
The chance to be in both worlds, business and technology. Collaborate and managing relationship with both colleagues and vendors from all around the world.

Good working atmosphere and competent team members were my expectations and these have been fulfilled.

Proteins are essential parts of organisms and therefore I like all peptides.
