Bachem was honored to receive the prestigious IEA Environmental Excellence Award (Integrated Environmental Association) at the annual IEA conference held in San Diego. This recognition highlights Bachem’s commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainability.

IEA Environmental Excellence Award

The award recognized an innovative solution to recycle Bachem’s carbon waste in partnership between Bachem and ACTenviro, a hazardous waste vendor, resulting in benefits for both the environment and the company’s bottom line.

Through the collaboration, Bachem was able to participate in a carbon pool program. This program allowed Bachem to send its spent carbon for regeneration and to use reactivated carbon at a lower cost.

The success of Bachem’s carbon regeneration program showcases the power of partnerships and their positive impact on both the environment and business operations. This achievement demonstrates the importance of exploring waste stream management, as potential opportunities for reclassification or recycling may exist.

The importance of environmental sustainability

And, looking a bit further ahead, Bachem committed to achieving climate neutrality by 2030, contributing to the Paris Agreement on climate change, which combats global warming.

Last year, Bachem received a platinum medal as a sustainable company from EcoVadis, a sustainability ratings organization. Our company’s status was already raised from silver to gold the previous year. With the platinum award, Bachem has moved into the top 1% of companies in our industry and into the top 2% of the EcoVadis list of most sustainable companies. The rating recognizes the company’s performance in areas such as the environment, ethical behavior, sustainable procurement, and labor and human rights.
