• Bachem is pleased to announce that Iain Pritchard will take on the role of Site Manager in St. Helens (UK).
• Since joining Bachem in 2004, Iain has held various roles within the company. From 2013, Iain was Director of Production in St. Helens.
• He will take up his new role on July 1, 2023.
• Iain Pritchard succeeds Julie Marley, who will support him in a transitional phase in the second half of 2023 until her retirement.

How long have you been with Bachem? Where did you work before Bachem?

I will have been with Bachem for 20 years at the end of 2023, having joined the company only a few months after completing my undergraduate studies. I started as a Synthesis Chemist before becoming Group Leader a few years later. Since 2013 I have been Director of Production with overall responsibility for both upstream and downstream manufacturing operations.

What is your academic background/degrees or training?

I have a BSc. in Forensic & Analytical Chemistry from the University of Strathclyde and a Ph.D. in Medicine from Imperial College London that I completed part-time while working at Bachem.

What are you looking forward to in your new role as Site Manager in St. Helens?

I have always looked to challenge myself at every stage of my career, and with this new role, I am stepping into some very big shoes, given Julie’s track record of success. However, it is the excitement of doing so and having the opportunity in time to leave my mark on the site that I am looking forward to.

What does Innovation mean for you? Do you see Bachem as an innovative company?

What do you like to do outside of work?

I enjoy spending time with family and friends and have had a particular interest in cooking since my days at university.
During the pandemic, I discovered a real passion for running. Nowadays, putting on my running shoes and listening to a podcast is a beneficial way to spend some time outside of work. I completed a half marathon in March, so the next challenge will be to complete a full one!

What are your top three areas of focus in the coming months?

My time at Bachem has been exclusively focused on manufacturing, so first, I plan to learn more about the other functions on site. Secondly, I want to make the most of having my predecessor Julie on site for the next six months in her advisory role to ensure a smooth transition for everyone. Her extensive knowledge and experience will be invaluable to me in this regard. Finally, I plan to devote the time to getting to know the individual team members more and give them a chance to learn more about me. We have a fantastic team spirit here in St. Helens, and I want to ensure that remains the case for the foreseeable future.
